THE SKATING CLUB
OF MT. LEBANON

Celebrating our Graduates -- Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

Alaina Barlock

Alaina is graduating from Bishop Canevin High School, and plans to attend Kent State University.  Her favorite skating memory is skating at the Skate, Dance, Dream show hosted at Mt. Lebanon Ice Rink when she was 7 or 8 years old. She was able to meet an Olympic figure skater, and skate with a spotlight for the very first time!

Leah Capsambelis

Leah is graduating from Burrell High School.  She will attend The George Washington University to study International Affairs.  Leah has been accepted into the Women’s Leadership Program at GW.  Her most memorable skating moment/biggest accomplishment in skating was completing her Moves in the Field Gold medal/senior level with a significant hip injury.  Leah hopes to continue to skate in college.

Sarah Reyer

Sarah is graduating from Freeport Area High School, and plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh studying Computational Social Science.  Sarah's most memorable skating experience is participating in the 2023 Excel Series National Championship camp experience with figure skating champions, including Jason Brown and Starr Andrews.

Shaghayegh (Shagin) Zamani Ashtiani

Shagin is graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Swanson School of Engineering with a PhD in Computational Modeling.  She plans to become a professor or research associate in industry.  She uses math to explain or improve things. For example, math and physics can show why figure skates, hockey skates, and speed skates are designed differently. She loves what she does, and ice skating helps keep everything balanced for her.  Her favorite skating memory is going to her first competition in Canton Ohio with her coach, Kim.

Congratulations to our May 2024 USFS Gold Medalist!
